About Us

After the birth of the third child in four years, Lisa Callens noticed that her skin was not only stretched, but had grown dry, callused, and itchy with a few added spots from burn marks from taking food out of hot ovens and stirring hot pots on hot stoves. In a word, her skin was horrible and looking old before she was thirty.

After lamenting about the condition of her skin, she decided to do something about it. Salt scrubs had just come on the market — so she tried them. But, the salt based scrubs burned her skin, and sometimes made her feel worse than before.

After many tries with many products, she conducted research and became interested in the various types of oils and how they benefit the skin. After experimenting with various combinations of oils, a formula was created that not only penetrated her skin, but made it feel soft, supple and smooth. The special formula of organic and exotic oils became the official formula for what became Sweetie's Sugar Scrub.

The name Sweetie is derived from Lisa's childhood nick name. The name seemed to fit the contents of the scrub because it smells so sweet and nourishes the skin. Lisa’s "sweet nature" could not keep such a wonderful discovery to herself, so, she began giving jars of sugar scrub to family and friends as gifts at baby showers, bridal showers, and birthdays.

The feed back was tremendous. One day her Aunt, who has an entrepreneurial spirit, said to her: "Lisa, this sugar scrub is so good that you don't need to keep it to yourself. You need to market and sell this stuff." After much encouragement, Lisa and her Aunt Lucenia launched Sweetie's Things, LLC to manufacture the sugar scrub to share with people who care about the condition of their skin.

And, by the way, it is not just for women because men want to look good and have smooth skin too.
